Yumoto Onsen

奥日光湯元温泉

On the northern shore of Lake Yunoko, Yumoto Onsen is a tranquil hot spring retreat that is working to achieve carbon neutrality. It is believed that the Buddhist monk Shodo discovered the milky-white, sulfur-infused springs over 1,200 years ago. The high concentration of silica in the spring is said to be effective for skin beautification, relief from neuralgia, and recovery from fatigue. Start your exploration of the area at the Nikko Yumoto Visitor Center, where you can find information about the local flora, fauna, and hiking trails. Experience the healing properties of Yumoto's hot springs at Anyo-no-yu, a complimentary foot bath in the town (closed during winter). With over 20 inns featuring hot springs in the area, Yumoto Onsen is an ideal base for exploring Nikko National Park.
