湯殿山神社祭礼
This annual festival has been held for about 250 years to pray for an abundant harvest and the avoidance of natural disasters. The main event is a great procession led by a person dressed as Sarutahiko, leader of the earthly gods in Shintoism. The festival has been designated as an intangible local asset of Tochigi Prefecture.
