Nikkobori Woodcarving


Experience the Nikkobori woodcarving tradition that originated with the famous craftsmen who renovated Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Common designs include cherry blossoms, peonies and dragons, carefully carved on furniture, trays and cups, then coated with lacquer.

Nikko Woodcarving Village Craft Center:
30-minute walk from Tobu-Nikko or Nikko stations. Or 10 minutes by bus buses bound for Kirifurikogen to the Marumi bus stop, then a 7-minute walk.
