A popular traditional sweet in Nikko is manju, a steamed bun with a sweet azuki bean paste filling. There are many different types, including onsen manju (typical souvenirs from hot-spring resorts), yuba manju (wrapped in yuba) and saka manju (made using koji fermentation, giving them a taste similar to sake).
