Kanaya Hotel History House

金谷ホテル歴史館

A well-preserved example of a late Edo-period samurai residence, Kanaya Hotel History House has been designated a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. It also served as an early hotel for foreign visitors, opening in 1873 as Kanaya Cottage Inn, with guests including writer and explorer Isabella Bird.


How to get there:
15 minutes from Nikko Station or Tobu-Nikko Station on buses bound for Chuzenji Onsen/Yumoto Onsen/Okuhosoo to Kanaya Hotel Rekishikan bus stop.
