Like the magnificent nakiryu (“crying dragon”) of Nikko Toshogu Shrine, the ippitsu ryu is said to bring good luck. “Ippitsu” means “one stroke”, and it's truly magnificent to see one of Nikko’s artists create an image of such detail—even down to the scales—with a single stroke of their brush.
